BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
July 15, 2014
Board member Elaine Byrne opened the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Present were Board Members Elaine Byrne and Alba Gouldthorpe, Health Agent Deborah Rogers, and Health Inspector Virginia Bacon. Chairman Steve Fram was absent.
184 MIDDLE ROAD - Bob Grasso requested the following variances for 184 Middle Road: 1.) Percolation test required in proposed leach area to be sent out for soil lab analysis. 2.) Reduction in groundwater separation to bottom of soil absorption system from 4’ required in a Presby treatment system to 2’. It was moved by Alba Gouldthorpe to approve the variances as written; it was seconded by Elaine Byrne and voted unanimously.
PLUM ISLAND TRASH – Health Agent Deborah Rogers informed the board about a complaint regarding the dumpster at the Plum Island Center. The Plum Island Foundation had provided funds for a dumpster at the center and the complaint was regarding the trash overflowing and the dumpster not being able to handle the extra trash created by a large number of beach goers. When the BOH had gone down to inspect the trash, it had been taken care of. The dumpster had been emptied and the scattered debris had also been picked up. Deb Rogers informed the complainant that there were 3 things we could do.
By Ordering the Plum Island Foundation to clean up by either:
1.) Get another one or adequate size one for the area.
2.) Dump more frequently. or
3.) Remove the dumpster all together and have the beach goers bring their trash home.
The board requested that the Health Agent to send the Plum Island Foundation a friendly letter regarding this matter.
MINUTES OF MEETING- It was moved by Elaine Byrne to approve the minutes for the June 3, 2014 with the correction to the spelling of variety as amended; it was seconded by Alba Gouldthorpe and voted unanimously.
The next meeting of the Board of Health will be on August 12, 2014 at
6:00 p.m.
